Privacy policy

This policy explains what information onlygamez.com ("OnlyGamez", "we") collects and how it's used.

Game progress and the leaderboard

To check your guesses and run the leaderboard, our server gives your browser a random anonymous player ID. It's saved in your browser's local storage and isn't linked to your name, email or device. On our server (Cloudflare D1, a database) we store, against that ID: your guesses for each daily puzzle, when you started and finished, whether you solved it, your win and streak totals, and an optional nickname if you choose one. Nicknames are shown publicly on the leaderboard, so don't use your real name if you'd rather not.

To limit abuse, we store a short, one-way scrambled version of your IP address for each day, which changes daily and can't be turned back into your IP. Your local stats (streaks, score chart) are also kept in your browser.

We keep leaderboard data while the site runs. To have your player ID and nickname deleted, contact us with the nickname, or clear your browser's site data to start fresh with a new ID.

Analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views. It doesn't use cookies or local storage and doesn't track you across sites.

Server logs

The site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like most web hosts, Cloudflare may process technical data such as IP addresses and browser type to deliver and secure the site. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Advertising and cookies

We may show advertising in the future, for example through Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet. You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings or www.aboutads.info. Where required by law (for example in the UK and EU), we'll ask for your consent before setting non-essential cookies.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have rights to access, correct and delete personal data. Because we store almost nothing about you, clearing your browser's site data removes your game history. For questions or deletion requests, contact the site owner via the domain's registered contact.

Children

The site isn't directed at children under 13 and we don't knowingly collect their personal information.

Changes

We may update this policy and will change the date above when we do.
